Innovate & Inspire 2025 – Forging New Paths in Education

On 21 July 2025, AVBS (African Virtual Bridging School) had the privilege of attending the Innovate & Inspire 2025 Conference: Forging New Paths in Education, hosted by Hudson Park Primary School in East London. The school, known for its strong traditions and holistic approach to education, once again brought together educators, innovators, and thought leaders for a day dedicated to shaping the future of learning.

Following the success of the 2024 conference, this year’s event built on that momentum with an even broader line-up. From AI in education, eSports, coding and robotics, and cyber security to creative tools like Canva and Scratch Junior, the programme catered to teachers across different fields. With generous support from Snapplify, 2Simple, Clevertouch, Macmillan Education, EduBoard, and Optimi, the day created a vibrant space for collaboration, growth, and new ideas.

AVBS Showcase

As part of the exhibition, AVBS—together with our partner Moravia Consulting—introduced educators to interactive education tools that blend coding, robotics, and augmented reality (AR). Our focus was on how technology can empower learners from as young as three years old to explore the digital world with confidence.

Highlights from our booth included:

- Cubetto by Primo, which charmed attendees by spelling “WELCOME” and solving maths problems while demonstrating the basics of coding in a playful, hands-on way.

- Little Otto by HP, proudly showing off his emote face and following his black line path with precision.

- Curiscope’s Virtuali-Tee and interactive Solar System poster, both of which brought science lessons to life through AR experiences.

- The Merge Cube, which unlocked immersive digital learning opportunities—and found a new home with our lucky prize winner, Janey Waddell.

Inspiring Connections

Beyond the technology demonstrations, the conference provided valuable opportunities to connect with teachers, school leaders, and fellow innovators who are all working towards competence-based learning and a digitally inclusive Africa. It was inspiring to see so many educators committed to preparing the next generation of learners for a rapidly changing world.

Represented by Tessa Taylor and Prof. Dr. Gudrun Frank, AVBS continues to build bridges in education across Africa. Our vision is to create pathways for learners by combining modern digital tools with personalized, competence-driven education. Events like Innovate & Inspire provide a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when passionate educators and innovators come together with a shared purpose.

At AVBS, we believe in preparing learners not just for school, but for life—and we are excited to continue this journey, one learner, robot, and cube at a time.
