Ghana Chronicles: Gudrun’s Journey of Collaboration and Impact

Delighted to share highlights from my recent trip to Ghana, spanning October 19th to November 1st, 2023. Upon landing in Accra on October 19th, the warmth of Ghana greeted me through the Fiesta Royale hotel shuttle. The short yet delightful ride with Emanuel set the stage for exciting adventures.

On the morning of October 20th, a heartwarming reunion with Chantelle, a cherished friend and GALP faculty member, was followed by a meeting with Ivy Lawson, CEO of the Digital Transformation HUB, at 11:00 AM. Discussions covered Business Process Management, STEM, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Finance. Stay tuned for updates on these collaborations on our website.

Insightful conversations unfolded with Margaret Jackson, Founder of L&D Africa, and Stanley D.A. Our dialogues explored potential collaborations shared via WhatsApp. A passionate young entrepreneur in the Mushroom Business in Ghana left an indelible mark, collaborating with over 100 young women to empower them in building their own businesses.

Despite disruptions to a planned meeting with Stephan Fosu due to a dam break, a productive video conference ensued. Engaging discussions with Victor Asante at GIEFC delved into competency checks, W.O.W Workshops, and Life Skill Trainings, setting the stage for collaborative proposals in 2024. Nkum Associates expressed support in guiding more young people into the workforce, with initial discussions held with John and Ato Kwame Nkum.

The GALP training provided insights into African leadership culture, fusing culture, spirituality, and modern business in Ghana. In Cape Coast, a warm reunion awaited with CRAN employees, especially Managing Director Doris Agbesinyale and her husband, Patrick Agbesinyale. The journey showcased progress since February 2020, with more gas stations, cars, and vendors navigating through traffic.

Visiting schools for W.O.W Workshops and Life Skill Trainings brought mutual joy. Providing a projector to CRAN aimed to enhance students' experiences during programs and Zoom sessions. These schools, dedicated to enabling learning under challenging conditions, harbor numerous talents among the children. The goal is to support these efforts, building bridges to education with the backing of partners met during the trip.

Discussions with the director of Wesley Girls' Senior High School focused on implementing competency checks, expressing interest in piloting projects for career and study orientation. Grateful for the eventful weeks in Ghana, I, along with Tessa, am committed to implementing initiatives. The children I met have found a special place in my heart, and I envision a bright future for them.
